Reducing administrative burdens on the professional mariner

Here are some things the IMO came up with. If you have any questions regarding the IMO’s efforts to eliminate unnecessary, disproportionate or obsolete administrative burdens, feel free to contact AdministrativeBurdens@imo.org.

How about just re-introducing the office of the Purser to take care of the “paper work”, which would let the management to get on with their real jobs of sailing and/or maintaining the machinery? Simple.

I am going to say that I object to the graphic for so many reasons as first of all the recommendations, none speak of overburden due to EXCESSIVE and UNNECESSARY regulation; second, that all the the recommendations are nothing other than pure business speak (I am surprised that the terms “synergy”, “paradigm shift” or “sea change” don’t appear); and third, what is supposed to be implied by the human figures shown…supersized managers and mini workers who themselves are made to appear like peasants with smocks and staffs! They look like shepherds.

AM I WRONG HERE?

and btw, what is it with this woman in a skirt and heels? In our industry? never seen it with my eyes…ever!

I think a meeting should be held in the boardroom to discuss the paradigm shift of the sea change. A report shall be issued and promulgated to all hands seeking constructive input and we bring this together going forward.

We’re going to need to team-ideate on dynamic methods for leveraging this dialog into innovative solutions that will vertically integrate the maritime industry in sustainable ways that will really move the needle.

MY GOD! How I simply LOATHE the GODDAMNED EMMEFFING IMO!

and all the other utterly useless “regulators” of our once proud and tradition bound and honored industry…what is it that “they” have turned us into?

Someone clearly hasn’t been empowered to think outside the box about deliverable strategies for utilizing the core competencies of human capital and developing best practices without trying to boil the ocean.

It is very ridiculous, though, how they’ve separated a handful of otherwise-coherent points into a rainstorm of bite-size nothings.

That’s because these soulless zombies are the ideological heirs to villains from an Ayn Rand novel. To wit, I quote “The Fountainhead”,

“Don’t set out to raze all shrines-you’ll frighten men. Enshrine mediocrity - and the shrines are razed.”
