I just boarded a ship where pilot ladders on midship (port & stbd) are not positioned exactly opposite of the other. Port ladder being beside cargo hold number 4 while stbd is beside cargo hold no 5. Anybody can point out the reason why? Thanks in advance.
Probably just the way the deck is configured. It does not matter as long as they are both fully compliant.
Even when the physical arrangement is correct, it is thought about 90 percent of ladders are not rigged 100% correctly.
