Photos of old US built OSVs
I think it may be called the Farrel. She is in Amelia
Nah…FERREL is an ex NOAA research vessel. This one had come down from Seattle where she spent years as a test vessel for Honeywell and Raytheon, As far as I know she was the sole survivor of that first generation supply vessel. I hope she isn’t gone!
I would love to post more photos but Keep getting message “you have met your quota”???
any suggestions???
link directly to all your photos on shipspotting.com

Thanks c.captain,I can do this to some but Many of my photo collection is not on shipspotting because i did not take the photo,so…
i’ve sent a message to administration… let’s see what they say.

CaptDag would you have the photo of the State Command with the platform on top of the pilot house? I had a photo of it years ago,
but lost it.

Borkowski,I sure do! I’ll post if admin. allows me or pm me your personal e-mail and I’ll send it your way.

regards

Wow, have not seen that pic in about 25yrs. My dad was the Captain that took it back into Morgan City after it hit the platform.

Well guys, I have really enjoyed this thread until I had problems with uploading photos. I’ve been told by administration that there should be nothing wrong with my ability to upload photos on gcaptain. but… still NOT able to add photos!
anyone interested in old photos of US built supply boats please PM me your e-mail and I’ll gladly send them if available.

I don’t even bother to upload photos to gCaptain’s server anymore…it has never really ever worked for me…upload your photos to Flikr and then just link back to the url there

That is really the best way to post to any forum.

I also agree. Ive Been using Photobucket. It is also nice to scroll through the post and see the images rather than having click every single image hyperlink.

Hey yall. Found your thread because I was looking for old State Boat photos. The business belonged to my grandpa (Robert Lober) and my dad also worked there (Tom Lober). In fact, I was born in Morgan City while Dad was working there.

Pulling old records of these boats for fun and would love any pics anyone has. I can’t view any of the photos posted for some reason, but seems par for the course here.
I’ve destroyed many brain cells since I worked for Jim Mello but I beleive the Aleutian command had the stacks aft.
I also worked with their SES program with Bell-Textron-Halter. After the B100 came the SPEED COMMAND. Then the SPRINT, SWIFT and STRIDE. A challenging job. I was the “old man” at 32 years then. When things slowed down in the mid '80s, The SES boats were sold to the navy and the CG operated them.
The Aleutian had 5 AX the Alaskan had the 4 AX Tahitian and Hawaiian had the 8-645 EMD. Tasmanian and Polynesian had the 4AXA if I remember correctly…
