NPR Morning Edition story about offshore drilling workers
A-Man…please can we not poke pointy sticks? I really consider this a very pertinent topic for the forum and want for once for it to be purely professional.

Yes, I know…the man with the pointiest stick of all, but maybe I am mellowing as I ferment in old age. Just like a good single malt Scotch!

OR an old cheese…STINKY

Ha Ha…we have a comedian in the audience ladies and germs.

Hey…you’ve all been a great crowd, thanks for coming & don’t forget to tip your waitress
Anchorman: Africa is great, no stress. Say hi to Capt Marcel for me.
Captain is at the house, but reads my stupidity here often.

Hahaha, yeah, now he can read mine as well. How is it working for Petrobras in Brazil? I have never worked there or for Petrobras, but I have heard stories about what they will put the rig on downtime for, is it like that? Like if the porn stops?

I will not ellaborate on ‘company’ business here - not my place, but I will say, being that I have had experience with Petrobras before, when you sign a contract, you should be prepared for everything that comes with it when working in Brazil. It’s just another calculus to consider, but if it wasn’t profitable, no company would be here. I see another ship here within the next 18 months or so

Since I know and have worked with the young captain being referred to I am going to weigh in on this. I have 14 years has a limited tonnage Captain and 3 years as a rig deck mate, 2 years as a DPO and 3 years as a Chief Mate on DP Semi and Drillships. The captain in question worked for almost 3 years as a Chief Mate on DP Drilling rigs, I think he will be able to handle the job fine . I have worked with Captains from the shipping industry with no or little rig experience and they understood their limitations and have tried to learn as much as possible from the drilling side before they get in a bind . I worked for Global Santa Fe and they never put anyone in Masters /OIM position without being a Chief Mate for a year a or so
and a OIM training program . I know things are tight for Masters on rigs but I think GSF had the right idea.
