I don’t know why but that reminded me of this video. It’s a bit dated now. I’m not a statistician but sat through so many company mandated power points on subjects from safety to PR to whatever was the next big thing in management and they couldn’t resist incorporating pseudoscience and numbers. Nice send up of the methods some people use

I guess I didn’t get the joke in the OP at first because I was surprised when I tipped my phone sideways and realized I could actually see the bend in the graph.
It reminds me of this thread: Investigating the Use of the Steel Globetrotter to Draw Great Circle Tracks which I though was high-level stuff.
