Does anyone know if they actually respond to tickets when they’re created? I see it’s a feature in this new license renewal site they launched, but I’m wondering if they actually address these tickets themselves and/or even reply to them. Has anyone used this yet?
Probably some AI nonsense.
I can’t even log on. I deleted my account twice but to no avail.
Kind of amazing how over 80 years ago before printers and computers folks were able to get documents in days… here we are in the wonderful supermodern tech era and it takes months — and even then they can’t get it right.
Well you have to understand, the thing is that we had a much bigger merchant marine with a ton more sailors needing documents back then, so the workload… oh. Hmm.
I renewed twice in Honolulu and three times in New Orleans in the “good ol’ days”. Had my license in hand the next day.
Mariner Credentialing Program Transformation Listening Session – November 19, 2026
On September 14, 2026, the Coast Guard launched the initial capability of Navita™, a new digital system for mariner credentialing. It represents a significant modernization of the mariner credentialing process designed to reduce delays associated with incomplete submissions and streamline application processing.
The Simulation, Training, Assessment & Research (STAR) Center is hosting a listening session to facilitate providing the Coast Guard with individual user feedback on Navita™ and the Mariner Credentialing Program Transformation initiative.
The listening session will be held on November 19, 2026, at the STAR Center in Dania Beach, FL. Individuals will need to register in advance for the meeting. Information about this meeting and the link to registration can be found on the STAR Center website.
STAR Center will accept individual feedback during the listening session from mariner credentialing stakeholders and the public on their experiences with Navita™ since the initial launch. Additionally, feedback will be received on the next phase of the Mariner Credentialing Program Transformation initiative, including Mariner Training, Examinations, and Oversight.
For additional information about this session, please use the link provided above. For information about the mariner credentialing transformation, you may contact Mr. Brian Eichelberger at brian.t.eichelberger@uscg.mil.
