Naval Academy '82 Grad Sworn in as Deputy MARAD Administrator

The following info was just sent to us this afternoon:

Capt. Paul “Chip” Jaenichen (Ret.) was sworn in as Deputy Administrator for the U.S. Maritime Administration on Friday, July 20, 2012. He will start his new job on Monday, July 23, 2012. There has been no press announcement from the Maritime Administration as of yet.

Capt. Jaenichen is a U.S. Naval Academy graduate (1982) and was the 5th Commanding Officer, of the USS Albany SSN 753, from 10 September 1999 throu 14 June 2002. His last duty station was as Navy Deputy Chief of Legislative Affairs, Washington D.C.

A retirement ceremony was held for Capt. Jaenichen on Friday, April 6, 2012. His resume has no commercial or merchant marine experience.

Now isn’t that just special?

If marching around in the dirt is considered qualification enough to run KP then it shouldn’t be a surprise that the MARITIME Administration will get along just fine under someone with no MARITIME experience whatsoever.

“Legislative Affairs” is the magic qualification here isn’t it? Those crooked bastards don’t even pretend to play the game anymore. There is no shame in stacking the deck so their corporate masters will toss them a bone and let them waltz around DC like they are worth the oxygen they waste.
