My TWIC Experience

I am thrilled that someone finally found a good use for the TWIC. Shellback you are to be commended.

SHELLBACK …HOW BRILLIANT !! How Resourcefull.
I’m sure you could remove some light frost off the windows too, or measure something that is 2 1/8" or 3 3/8" , ahhhhh the possibilities are endless…
well,… glad you didn’t get caught with your sombrero up, and found one of the many potential uses for your card.

Steamer, Do you mean to tell me you found someone @ Port Everglades that speaks English? I am sorry to doubt you, its just hard to believe.

All,
Not entirely true…

On Monday I was tasked with the duty of attaching new registration numbers to one of our smaller boats…After affixing the new ID numbers I realized I had a small air bubble under one of the numbers and with nothing close by to help force the troublesome air bubble out,I resorted to my trusty TWIC card, using it like a sqee gee I was able to force the air bubble out with out causing damage to the number, I shudder to think what may have happened to the number and my stellar reputation had the powers that be, not required me to have that card upon my person…I am now a believer…
And if they would put a loran interpolator card on the back we could use it for our loran fixes as well!

I think it was an “equal opportunity” thing. I have noticed a few token English speakers in the area.

I fly in and out of JFK (NYC) for my flights to vessels and use Mr TWIC to skip the security lines and go through “crew” security. works like a champ.
in my defense, the “CREW” sign doesn’t elaborate what exactly one must be crew of…
not sure what else I use the TWIC for…
oh yeah, nothing.

For some of us…It substitutes having to be fingerprinted and new passport photos for license upgrades.

I’m surprised that works… are you wearing a four-striped captain’s jacket too?

I’d rather spend money on a passport photo, prints and take an oath in front of a REC 100 miles from my home than to spend $150 of my money every five years.
