MSC World Europa

From a reliable source and a FB post:
The cruise ship “MSC World Europa” has run aground off the Italian island of Ponza, between Rome and Naples, due to technical problems. On board are 8,585 people – including nearly 6,500 passengers and over 2,000 crew members. According to the Italian Coast Guard, the situation on the ship is stable. Weather and sea conditions are favorable, and supplies on board are being secured with the help of generators.

The Maltese-flagged ship, owned by MSC Cruises, was en route from Genoa to Naples when it reported an electrical problem with its engines at around 7:25 a.m. At that time, it was about eight nautical miles southwest of the island in the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Then this from a Maltese source:

System won’t let me capitalize the ship name in the title.

Cruise ship breaks down south of Rome

Now safely tied up in Naples, not sure about “aground” in other articles.

(Possibly misuse & misinterpretation of words like “stranded”.)

Interestingly that linked article notes the ship experienced “damage”, but that could simply be another translation hiccup.

Saw that monstrosity blocking the Sun and filling the town with hordes in Genoa last week.
