MPA Reports Fewer Tankers, Lower Tonnage in Singapore

SINGAPORE (Dow Jones)–The number of oil, gas and chemical tankers that passed through the port of Singapore in February fell 6.2% from the previous month, and overall tonnage was 6.7% lower, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore said on its website Tuesday.

The port handled a total of 1,784 tankers with a combined gross tonnage of 54.64 million metric tons last month, down from 1,902 vessels and gross tonnage of 58.58 million tons in January.

Of the tankers handled by the port last month, 1,242 were oil tankers, down from 1,361 in January.
