MARAD RRF Awards

Didn’t need to specify… Eterrible3 did it for me, pal.

This got me thinking that Saltchuk (parent company of TOTE) must have strong political contributions, especially considering they were awarded 14 ships and secured the contract to build the NSMV. or maybe it’s just me being conspiratorial lol

Right up there with Mr. Gary!!

I believe it is because the SL-7s are all getting scrapped or mothballed. That drops them down to 10. Altair and bellatrix are done in September or October.

We are also losing Cape Intrepid, along with one Cape R and one Cape D/E.

I’m guessing buying more ships replace it? I feel like they screwed up buying the Cape S’s. No crane…

The real mess up was buying the Cape Arundel and Cortez. Those ships are fucked and are going to cost a billion dollars to fix.

The Cape S’s have plans to get cranes at the next yard.

Piece of cake… $1 billion split for the Arundel and Cortes over 10 yrs. $5 billion for the 53ish other ships over same 10yrs.

ARC made off a heist selling those. Government efficiency at its finest. Grimaldi Lines or even Pasha Marjorie C got the perfect RRF blueprint. CON/RO with a Crane. Easy money would be making these in Korea or Japan and selling it to MARAD at twice the cost.

They did it a couple years ago right? They were docked next us in Sand Island if I remember and I did notice they were gone.

Not long after delivery they realized the cranes were not required in the service they were in and were actually in the way.
