I can’t speak for the 750s but on the 650 class ATBs the AB Tankerman handle most of the NS5 maintenance of the barge and the utility handles the sanitary of the whole vessel. Chipping and painting is pretty irrelevant. The boats go into shipyard every couple years and get sand blasted and re-painted.
We run 1 capt, 3 mates , 2 Tankerman, 1 utility AB , 1 cook , 1 chief and 2 assistants.
At anchor and the one or two days at sea that we get. Most chipping and painting is just put off until yard periods in the Bahamas and they sand blast and respray everything. Most of the “tankerman” handle PMs, mates do a good bit of them as well it just depends.
