What the hell happened?
2 former SEALs found dead while off watch. RIP. No real details yet released.

They said it was a heroin overdose…I find that somewhat dubious.

Sad for the families in any case.
This if from Maersk
their deaths were were “not related to vessel operations or their duties as security personnel.”
Is there a more plausible explanation?

Homoerotic sexual practices involving mutual asphyxiation?
That or one of the two farted something unbelievable and they both died in the toxic cloud of poisoned gas?

Good thing you continue to prove you are an ass. A shame too, as sometimes you do have valuable input but it is overshadowed by your more frequent rants and less than intelligent comments.

Sorry Officer Commodore
and be sure to say hey to the gang at Cruisers Forum next time you’re there…
Ccaptain, they do have families and your comments are not proper. I wish they would ban you already. Though the traffic would slow down significantly, seeing how you have to comment on every thread on here.
You honor me with the comparison to his honor, Judge Smails. Well known this is one of my Top 10 movies of all time. Thanks!
Ccaptain, they do have families and your comments are not proper.
While I agree that c.captain’s comments are going a bit too far at this stage, one should keep in mind that while most people have a family, we are not them. We are the general public that is simply commenting the news.
No, for the most part this website is not the general public. It is a consortium of professional mariners. But with virtually no oversight as to what is posted on here sometimes people lose their bearings.
I can assure you that if, for whatever reason, a couple of your shipmates die, most people on here will be looking for a punch line.
I imagine that some of those mariners reading these threads are shipmates on the Maersk Alabama. And to those people I offer my condolences.
Here’s an article from CNN:

well, what the hell else could it be?
since someone objected to my earlier ideas I will not pose any other thoughts on this matter yet one must ask, so this is what men who are likely earning more than $1000 a day do out there?
ex Navee SEALS…some discipline they have! HMMMPH!

From what I gather from all the bitching they don’t get paid that well. Some issue about travel or down time in the hotel. I agree about the discipline, if they aren’t jumping out of a plane into the sea they’re bored. Go with the ex-marines instead.

They do not make anywhere near that much. MLL signed long term contract with Trident Group back in spring 2013. Granted I don’t know if that covers Maersk California and Alabama because they are Waterman contract. I sailed with Trident guys back in May and June last year (after long term contract) on MLL PCTC.
They arrived in Aqaba to a surprise wage cut of nearly $100 per day. I’d put their pay at no more than $550 per day.
Is it “heroin overdose” because everyone figures they were bored or is there actual evidence?

Don’t know where captJ got his info
From CNN:
According to the government official, who spoke on condition of not being identified, the presence of drug traces and paraphernalia “would suggest that their deaths were a result of drug overdose.”
Looks like it WAS drugs. WTF?
Can’t be fun to be the captain and realize the 2 guys with all the guns are junkies

For the conspiracy nuts out there, were these guys former members of Team 6?. . . . .
Very sad stuff. I imagine they have families that are very, very sad with oh so many questions and ze-ro good answers. Forever now.
Having seen the ravages of drugs and booze too close, seen it maim and kill on board, and utterly destroy friends and their families ashore, it seems a tragedy when this so needlessly strikes down even one of God’s children. I am not a wuss, excusing or making excuses for plane stoopid or illegal. No way. I’m just too old and can’t be mad. This stuff just makes me sad for the innocents affected by the stoopid.
Very sad stuff indeed. Unfortunately I would not be surprised if was was heroin that was reportedly found. Heroin has come back with a vengeance and is at epidemic proportions in some areas. I was amazed when my youngest son rattled off a bunch of names of people he knew in high school or college that succumbed that drug. Many years ago the morning after departing Oakland I found the electrician in his cabin dead from an overdose. He still had the needle in him when we picked him up off the deck. He was in his 50’s.
