Go door to door at the crewboat, utility boat and small tug companies in the Gulf. No MMC required.
I’m really starting to think this line of work might not be for you. Why keep asking the same question over and over again?
What answer do you WANT to hear?
Everything people said three weeks ago in this thread is still true (from the point of view of the people that wrote the comments.)
If you don’t understand what people have already told you, try and quote the post and ask a clarifying question.
Thanks ms mcgourthy. I dont want to be northern belle. Or the deep water horizon for that matter… Just looking for safe employment. Cliche to say but im 47. I know the risks of such employment.
@mmonroe194 , I think you’ve gotten some good advice from a broad spectrum of the industry, and I’m sure most of us will be curious where you end up. There are a lot of opportunities, but you you’ve got to go get them.
Good luck. Let us know where you land.
I will. Thank you. Good luck in life, Rick! Got a decent set up job eitherway. Insurance. But while I await getting the mmc. Insurance it is! I will not disappoint and let you know who hires me and where i can go!
That’s a weird choice if you’re looking for Maritime work. Savannah or Charleston would have given you easy access to many local tug companies, Maritime construction companies, and even charter fishing companies if you wanted.
Its life. My ex made me homeless and broke. I have no where to go but my dads house in Atlanta.
That’s a good reason.
You guys!
you don’t have to pick one or the other. An unlimited license works anywhere. Once you ride one or the other for a while and get experience, then more opportunities open up and you kind of get stuck, where moving from one to the other is like starting over. You pretty much start either on the ground floor.
I know Atlanta is not going to have jobs lol. Just trying to relate to you my area. Rip
I have my twic and passport and am now literally doing the paperwork for some of the MMC. I read on this thread or somewhere else just to call a local DOT examiner and tell them i will bring my own forms (which I have printed out and ready to go). Will this work and also will they do both exams?
Thanks for any tips!
