I for one am not going to say a thing as I believe enough here already knows who exactly John Konrad really is and it certainly isn’t a merchant mariner.

Konrad retracted and apologized after the Hildreth remark about the woman actually being in very advanced training.Sometimes its hard to see way down that rabbit hole.
I don’t really care if he retracted it. Usually what you first say is what you mean and the rest is spin. He graduated from Ft Schuyler one year before 9/11- if he wanted to be a warrior he had all kinds of chances to do his hooah shxx and I’m sure they would have found a slot for him. He has become a Hegseth suck up who like Hegseth doesn’t know his ass from a hole in the ground. Konrad needs to STFU . I see on linked in he now calls himself a Pentagon journalist- he could start by reporting reality and not Tangerine colored horseshxx
A few months ago when the forum traffic fell off & every thread spiraled to the topic of an unnamed, pumpkin shaded global politician, those right of center who complained about the constant non-maritime rhetoric was told to STFU & only read/follow the threads that weren’t offensive to them. Now the CEO of gCaptain who has quit posting on gCaptain Forum is told to STFU over things he posts on platforms that most of us can’t even open? I get it, lefties on gCaptain Forum hate John Konrad. But why do you people chase & hound him? I like JK but even I don’t follow him. Following someone on social media who you despise & disagree with is absurd? Take your own advice & quit following him, be done with it & be at peace. He doesn’t post on gCaptain Forum.

I guess the whole matter is who does John Konrad care about? I really and truly don’t see him caring about the American mariner which his platform here gives him unprecedented ability to advocate for. His going after that photo of the female Canadian commando shows where his focus lies.
Personally I think he should be sucking up to Senator Mark Kelly who although not a Fort Schuyler grad is a maritime graduate and a man who might well be the next president. Trump is very soon going to be a dead man walking so the sooner one gets off his bus before it crashes into the inevitable brick wall the better. Get out ahead of the change which is coming.

For some reason, gCaptain had been going to my spam folder for several months. I do not know why. But who the heck is John Konrad? All I could think of was “Heart of Darkness”. 
Well, I mean what the hell else are a bunch of buttmad retirees gonna do but complain?

John Konrad blocked me on X, I think mostly becuse I disliked his near constant take on the Merchant Marine the same as Military veterans. He trully sees himself with his high collor whites on, scrambled eggs on his hat, sword at his side and a chest full of medals.
The thing is, we all have the option out of schuyler to go Navy or Coast Guard. I was ex enlisted when I graduated in 1985. Ensign pay for me - with prior sevice, was about $1500 a month. I could make 3 times that as 3M and have half the year off. It honestly was still a hard choice for me - but in the end I went for the money.
Hats off to the ones who passed up the money for service.
If only we had Freedom of Speech in the US, and the ability to hear or read something we don’t like and just ignore and move on…

I just un-blocked John Konrad on X and read his long post on the sermon he heard and the impact it had on him. It most certainly touched me. Kinda wish I had read it first - before posting above. Takes a very big man to do that John - well done.

I don’t follow John nor have an X account, so don’t know what all the drama is about. But kudos to you as well & for your comment quoted above too. I do the same. I have a big foot & even bigger mouth and put the former in the later way too many times. When I do, I apologize & leave the comment up as a lesson learned. 
Yes, Senator Mark Kelly is a key sponsor of the “SHIPS for America Act” and is a 1985 engine graduate of the USMMA so before anything else, he started in the Merchant Marine and I believe has never forgotten his origins.
However John Konrad believes differently it appears about Senator Kelly who is a Democrat and thus is a filthy vermin Communist…
I mean we all have a right to our opinions but regarding such a polarizing subject as party politics, a public person (which John is one) should be circumspect when publishing their’s lest they risk alienating many which certainly seems to have happened with his gCaptain constituency. It shows to me a true lack of discretion and wisdom on his part.
He might have been a king wearing a gold crown but instead has become the court fool wearing a tinfoil hat as we can clearly read in this post of his on X only a few days ago after he had just ignited a great firestorm.
Too bad for the man who built a great platform but failed in using it for its tremendous potential to bring positive change for the American mariner. I for one have written him off a very long time ago.
