I hope you can get in with MSC, itās a great outfit to work for. Benefits are too numerous to list but check some old threads on here to see.
When MSC has halfway decent rotations with guaranteed relief and an actual decent amount of home time Iād be all for it. For example: 120/120, even 120/90 would be acceptable.
For officers its 120/60 now.
Realistically its 140/(60+pool) so itās improved. If youāre a 3M itās basically 110/(90+lots of pool), chief mate is 180/(180 as long as you threaten to quit).

Except thereās no guarantee that that will continue from year to year as they over or under hire. They donāt guarantee anything and treat their employees like theyāre military (āthe needs if the serviceā come first).
If they paid the same base pay for only working 180 days per year that would be one thing. I donāt want to have to threaten to quit, and take lots of unpaid time off, to get decent time home.
Most jobs have challenges and trade offs. The oil patch had good pay, good time off but the work turned out to not be so steady. MSC has good pay, is very steady but not good for time off. Iām sure there are other jobs that are steady with good time off but not good pay.
Pick two of the three, it seems, unless youāre lucky.
