Is your snark meter tagged out?

touche’ dear madam…

Cold is the pointy stick and the heart that wields it.
Check out the SIU’s apprentice program. If you live where there is a SIU hiring hall go and check it out and they will help answer some of your questions. BTW, SIU stands for Seafarers International Union.
I miss the NMU. No pretensions to be an International anything.

The Agent in the Baltimore hall, Louie Avarella, gave all the Group 3 books (newbies) the chance to advance to Group 2 when an MSC charter needed worker drones for one day’s fitting out at the pier. He told the Group 1 and 2 guys to stand down for that job call.

Rumor had it that, to our “big brothers” at Seafarers, we were N******s, Misfits and Undesrables. Sometimes arguments and even shoving occurred at Union Meetings.

I was proud to be a Member. Now that I’m in SIU, not so much.

I’m Old…HELP!
I’m Old…HELP!
you can’t be helped…it’s called triage. Those who will die must be allowed to die and not take resources who can be saved.

that is why I am a dead man walking…still waiting for the end to come but sure seems to be taking a long time to arrive though.

care to join me for a drink while we await our hideous demise?

That is a harsh reality. I might have a little bit of productive time left.

Sure, but are we drinking to our hideous demise? I don’t plan on a hideous demise. I plan on going out kicking and screaming. I probably will leave a few claw marks too. Horrific demise would probably be a better description for me.

Only the good die young. Therefore, you’re likely immortal.

I’d invite you for a drink to a hideous demise but you’re probably too young to drink or have a demise either…

Allegedly he’s quite the bathhouse frequenter, which may be why he’s firmly tied to Scientology. They have auditing files on these celebrities a mile thick.

You’ll never think of Vinnie Barbarino quite the same way again, will you?

A stick and rudder man?

A post @ ex-scientologist message board (ESMB) this morning:

"Travolta is everywhere. So is the CofS, apparently.

The most-read non-government site for mariners (those who work on boats) is gCaptain. They use vbulletin, so their Forum looks very much like ESMB, tho it is not as easy to use as this site.

Background: When a newbie posts @ gC and asks for advice on entering our industry, he gets both help and extreme sarcasm (bordering on sadism) in about equal measure. The reason some veteran posters use the pointy stick on the new guy is there are sticky threads on gCaptain with hundreds of helpful posts, job leads and advice, as well as gov’t sites, which said greenhorn, obviously from his questions, hasn’t bothered to read. And laziness in a mariner is despised by his shipmates.

So yesterday a post shows up from “johntravolta”. Just saying “Hello, I’m new here”. The fun begins at post #32 at http://www.gcaptain.com/forum/profes...16884-a-3.html"
