UPDATE: Hurricane Gordon continues to move east near 20 knots with max winds near 90 knots and is forecast to pass south of Sao Miguel and just north or over Santa Maria island in the Azores on/about 20th/06Z with max winds about 70 knots.

Weakening Hurricane Gordon passed over the island of Santa Maria in the Azores as a minimal Cat 1 storm at 0530Z this morning and is now moving NE and likely will soon be downgraded to a tropical Storm.
