Anyone know of hornbeck actually letting people go?
He was replying to earlier speculation that they were stacking the boats due to lack of crew and thus having the last off the rest of the crew.
A check the box system can look good but there is more to a good cake than pretty frosting.
Without a blame free, reprisal free continuous improvement process no safety system can be effective.
And when every investigation and development of corrective actions and preventative actions are managed by executive operational management with the only goal of protecting the company reputation you cannot have an effective SMS.

I know an engineer that was laid off from there a few weeks ago. I believe they tied up a few boats. If they were smart, they used it to purge some bad apples while retaining talent. I have been out of the Gulf for eight years now but keep in touch with old friends and a few family. Crewing seems to be a serious issue everywhere. One of the companies out there is allowing engineers to work 6 weeks off 4 weeks on. Swapping people from boat to boat is not working because no one has any ownership to a vessel they are just passing through.
