Help for mariners with Color Vision problems

I was perusing the internet and came across this story about these new glasses that correct colorblindness. I thought it would help a lot of maritime people out if more knew about it. It would definitely help me, picking out white vs green lights at night (red is easy for me).

Here is the link: http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2015/02/23/berkeley-lab-accidentally-discovers-solution-to-fix-color-blindness-enchroma-cx-sunglasses/

In case the link goes bad… the company that makes the glasses is Enchroma Cx and their website is http://enchroma.com/.

Wow! Are they expensive! Look for copycats, everyone.

That’s interesting, but it would have to be approved for use by the Coast Guard, I’m sure. I don’t see that happening any time soon.

I know a lot of mariners who have trouble with the ishihara test. but I’ve told anyone i know who failed to take the flarnsworth test, I don’t know anyone who failed that one.
