IMHO the issue is how the industry changed from I am a full time employee and the boss owns the ship and the contract to:
Now I work for an agency, nobody knows who owns the ship, I dont even know if I will be back on this one next shift.
No continuity or expectation I will be employed next week
Still get treated like 1920’s employee with their land based conditions at that time.
The bean counters design a ship to last the contract, class happily agrees.
