East Coast Drilling, its gonna happen!

Lol there’s not going to be windmills on the East Coast, at least not in Va. That lease block was all smoke and mirrors. The only power company in Va won the lease, why would they spend the money on wind mills?

Might have been nice to see the floating offshore windmills in Maine work but I won’t hold my breath for that either.

No. But I don’t understand why tidal hydro power isn’t being used…wait I do, fish. Somewhere like the cape cod canal which is first of all man made canal (not natural fish habitat) should be lined with hydro generators. 3.5-5 knots of current 24 hours a day every day.

These hack politicians will blow you and tell you how bad they want drilling and how much they want the “capable usmm marine” but in reality could care less, lest they be caught between enviros and a spill. Same goes for dead whales, birds, or a codfish from a renewable project.

All your discussion is smart and well worded. Put it to paper and let’s keep letting the powers that be hear from the USMM with an actual good understanding of the English dictionary. It helps , believe me. The current often runs so strong you think your not moving. We are holding steady waiting for the slack.

With them building a LNG pipeline heading down to the Carolina’s I find it hard to believe it is for what they say, to provide gas to the hill folks. I’m guessing it’s being set up to provide LNG for the NE not the SE. They will build a production plant in the foothills and pump it to the plant from the coast.

I’ve always been optimistic though, but I REALLY, REALLY doubt they are building a pipeline that cost that much to sell fuel to folks living in the south.

I’m not really convinced that all the kinks have been worked out of tidal energy generation yet. It’s obviously a sound concept, a moving tide is free energy that we humans have developed the ability to be able to convert into something more useful like electricity. However, we have yet to see a viable platform from which this task can be accomplished. They tried installing some generators in NYC’s East River, which, like the the Cape Cod Canal is an excellent source of regular, predictable, strong current but within hours, minutes even, of being installed the tide had ripped the multi-million dollar devices to pieces.

I’m sure someone, somewhere, has developed a test model that works but the world has yet to see a tidal energy generator that is both feasible to build and cost-effective. If it can’t be built without relatively the same amount of trouble as say, a wind turbine, or something similar, and isn’t cheap enough to pay for itself within a reasonable span of time, then this technology will never successfully develop. There are plenty of good places to install tidal turbines, but no good tidal turbines to be installed yet.

Isn’t tidal generators being used in the east river in New York. Just south of the UN building? Edit. Didn’t see that it was mentioned in the above post.

They have had good working tidal power stations in Nova Scotia and France for at least 30 years.

If they’re so great why isn’t their technology being applied all over the world? They’re either too expensive or too difficult to build, just as I said in my last post.

Annapolis Royal is a 20MW tidal power plant in Nova Scotia that has been operation since 1984. There are also some new tidal power projects underway in the Bay of Fundy. See fundyforce.ca

The Rance River Tidal Power plant in France was the worlds first tidal plant. Its 24 turbines at 10 MW each have a peak capacity of 240 MW.

Fish, whales, birds, tourism are more important.

Maybe if we could get this alternative energy thing to produce liquor at the same time as it makes electricity it would catch on better

don’t forget gambling too… Wind generation, production platform and offshore casino all rolled into one!
