The Coast Guard didn’t tell them to do anything! He said they “must identify” and “could be operationalized” which is very weak. BP responded with a plan they have had for three to four weeks and which the Coast Guard already knew. This is a veil attempt to make the Coast Guard seem tough and in control. I agree. This has gone way beyond appearing tough. This is all about getting every resource available to tackle the problem. Cooperation is required. This is no time for trying to score points. The relief well is the only kill method in my opinion. There’s no need for Obama to spout off about an industry he knows nothing about, and the same applies to the coastguard.
However, I do understand their position and every single one of us sympathises with the unfolding environmental disaster. On the other hand, We focus on containment and clean-up in a proffessional manner. All the blame and what we could have done will come later. If you have input as to how to clean up then present it.
