Communication error - ALFA LAVAL P614

Hello there,
Hope everyone is doing great!
We are encountering an issue with our Alfa laval P615 purifier. The message displayed on the HMI say “Communication error - OP”. The lights and the HMI cyclically ONs and OFFs.
I have tried to rectify this issue by Power cycle, checking for loose connections and all other physical checks, but unable to do so.
Kindly help me in this regard. Any info required to solve this issue will also be communicated.
Controller Installed: EPC 50
Thanks a lot
Regards
Osama

Hi Osama,

we do have the same system installed. Do you have the manuals available?

If not, here is what it suggests:

—QUOTE—
Communication - ERROR xxxxx : •Cable errors
Check cables to board or replace the board (see Change of Circuit Board in the Service Manual booklet).

1Change of Circuit Board

If a circuit board has to be changed, proceed as follows:
Note down the run time (days only) as shown in the function list of the EPC 50.
Change the board according to the instructions below.

Go to parameter Fa 90, and insert the run time.

OP-Board
•Switch power off.
•Remove the snap-in transparent cover.
•Disconnect the two cable plugs (do not remove the cables from the plugs).
•Disconnect the flatcable connector at the top.
•Unscrew the five hexagon nuts.
•Mount the new board, and connect in reverse order.

I/O-Board
•Switch power off.
If there is no optional board installed:
•Disconnect all the cable plugs on the large board (do not remove the cables from the plugs).
•Unscrew the hexagon nuts. Take care to note where the special nuts for optional board(s) are located.
•Mount the new board, and connect in reverse order.

Dear Scapla,
It would be great if you could somehow share the manual.
Thanks

can’t you run it in a manual mode? bypass all the bs? I had one that needed to be run in manual, company never would fix it. Even after one night it lost sealing water and flooded the bilge with a LOT of diesel. automated engine room, deck crew night watch i think closed their eyes and ears while running thru for the hourly “looksee” and didn’t notice ?!?! Kinda nervous down there the next morning but I eventually got it cleaned up and the bilge sure did get clean !!
