Coast Guard Med Cert Delays

Seems like not as hot of a topic as it was a few months back…does this mean the turnaround times are improving?

I renewed mine for shits and giggles a month or so back and got it in three weeks start to finish.

My son’s latest 719B application was Accepted (received) 11/19/2024 and his medical certificate Issued 2/4/2025. Came in the mail 2/8/2025.

The uninformed contract people in the NMC help chat are worthless. They have no more access to information than you do.
My application was delayed 3 months because they had no idea my email server was blocked from their system. I used a gmail account to resend and that is what finally worked.

Mine expires december of this year, so i’ll be submitting in june. I’ve seen enough co-workers the last couple years get put on time out.

Do it earlier than that.

Submitted via email at 7 am December 16th. No new issues, 2 previously reported issues.

Received confirmation of receipt 9 am on 17th.

Received update that it’s being reviewed at 1 pm on the 17th.

5 minutes later it’s approved to print.

I’m on my hitch, so I won’t have confirmation on exact date to receive it in the mail.

I submitted 4 months early because of the shutdown and expected backlog. Guess it’s smooth if nothings changed :person_shrugging:

I e-mailed off mine today, 12/18. No changes, no new conditions.

My current card expires at the end of June. I always try to send things in 6 months early in case of problems.

I got a pair of e-mails from NMC today.

12:21 your application is being screened

12:36 your application has been approved and ready to print

I’m amazed. But now my medical card and MMD will have almost a year gap in between them. I wish NMC would keep them synced. Oh well.

If you sail under STCW you have to renew every 2 years and it will never sync up.
