CG Cutters - Helo Ops

From what i saw of the 210’s, they could roll 10 degrees tied to the dock. We went into Kodiak rolling 15 in a "polar roller, WAGB, and the 210 following us was rolling 25.

Yes, the Confidence had a wicked quick snap roll in rough seas, draft was about 9 feet. For helo ops exercises in bad weather we found a good lee.

This is WMEC 620, I was on 619.

This was before they lengthened them and moved the exhaust system from the stern to a conventional stack.

i was on the dock in Kodiak getting ready for liberty and another EM I went through EM School with came walking up after getting off the 210. I asked him what was going on and he said he was getting ready to fly back to California. He had chronic seasickness he could not get over and had gotten to the point he was throwing up blood. The last three days they had to sedate him to keep him alive. :grimacing:

I’ve heard the deck force really appreciated the change in the exhaust system.

Yes, whenever the stern dropped down into a sea it would block the engine exhaust and for some reason it would vent into deck berthing. Wasn’t uncommon to wake up to the smell of engine exhaust and a headache.

Here’s the Resolute before:

and after:
