That is not surprising.
They don’t pay bad, but management , vessel maintenance, crappy equipment. All sucked while I was there
This issues lies in the inadequate maintenance culture. It appears that the approach is to continue operating equipment until it malfunctions, which can lead to severe consequences in terms of safety and legal responsibility.
What are Centerline’s current Seattle based, but outside Puget Sound Captain wages? $900 to $1000???
Some of the biggest scumbags in the industry.

Sounds like Tidewater
Big shock to Swire people when they found out how TDW run things
I did some calling around
And other research. It appears to that they do not have a boat being held in a shipyard. I guess that is a good thing.
Call back and ask them why the William Fallon and 65 roses haven’t left the shipyard and the work in complete lol
Oh, the Millennium Falcon. Huh, really?
Colonnas in Norfolk
Well, now’s a good time for most positions to make a move. Good, experienced people are getting hard to find.
I mean, to get a Tankerman endorsement you have to be involved in loading and discharging the barge several times under another PIC and also take the course.
Once you receive your endorsement you will still be working with another Tankerman, IIRC they have some sort of sign off packet for new hires, but it’s not like it’s an incredibly hard or skilled role to learn.
Shouldn’t really need a structured curriculum to set a hermetic tape, open the barge and safely fill tanks, start and stop pumps and turn valves. Anyone who has any common sense can learn that role in 2-3 transfers and be somewhat proficient.
Having said that they are double dipping with their Mates - barely getting paid fairly as it is running as PIC and having the responsibility of both the barge and the tug, and they aren’t the only company doing it either.
Not worth the $$$, too much risk and not enough reward, just my opinion.
