John…don’t you have some way to keep these mosquitoes from infesting this place? I mean how hard is it to ensure someone getting access to the forum is not THIS kind of bug? make them fill out an application describing their maritime background and why they will be an asset worthy of admission…if you need someone to be the gatekeeper, I’ll be glad to take on the job
afterall, I learned from this guy who used to live next door to me
I love walks on the beach, sunsets and cuddling in front of a fire. Maybe we can get together sometime and talk about boats and stuff…
Lee - Nice of you to reach out all friendly like to this newcomer but I think you have gCaptain confused with this site:
Tried that site, doesn’t work. I can never seem to find any beautiful lady sea-captains my age.
To the OP, tell us more about you’re self. Why are you interested in this industry, where are you in life (hs, college, career switch?), bank account information, SSN, mother’s maiden name.
I totally believe the video showing that fat old joker in the sea captain Halloween costume scoring with the attractive chick young enough to be his great granddaughter. Who do I make the check out to? and does anyone know if Walmart carries those caps?

I’ve never been able to figure if that site is for real or an elaborate hoax. Parts of it are funny as hell. Who would have enough time and patience to set up a dating site called Sea Captain just to mess with the likes of us?
Wait, here is a clue: Sea Captain/C.Captain?..hmmmm.

Ok, im intrested in this industry because from what ive researched its decent money (60k or so starting salary for a 3rd mate) and although you may go out to sea for some time, you also get alot of that time back at home. (ie 3 months out, 1-2 months home - 8 weeks out, 6 weeks home)
I like the idea of that…
Also i like the idea of kinda being alone. Im not sure if thats how it is…but if you work 2 4 hour watches, are you free to do as you please after? Is there alot of bosses? Do you have to deal with alot of people?
I currently have an AAS in general studies from a community college aswell as an EMT-B cert. In total i have about 78 college credits but they are scattered and mostly electives, basic classes (english, math, etc.)
I have just recently left the casino business as i coulc not stand dealing with people face to face ALL DAY LONG and the HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT aswell.
Im currently unemployed and have no other ideas besides using my CDL. And tbh id rather stare at the ocean all day than a highway…plus money seems to be better in maritime industry. am i wrong?
Skipper and Gilligan going at it in this thread, Thurston Howell III in the other thread trying to start a tramp steamship company. Is our forum really becoming a comedy?

Compared to what? 177 forum replies to two boats hitting each other, said comments consisting chiefly of name calling, character assassination, juvenile shadenfreude, and Colombian donkey jokes?
Ooops, sorry! i just realized you we’re being sarcastic.
