Rumor and innuendo say that Hornbeck is getting back into tug/barge bizznesss, or perhaps one of the other big mud boat operators.
Woah!
Hornbeck is struggling to keep its head above water. Itâs not in a financial position to acquire any of The Bouchard assets.
Correct analysis Tugsailor. Pure speculation at this point, but Kirby, OSG, and Crowley have the ability to outbid each other, those new units are state of the art and wonât come cheap, but less than newbuild. Nobody of the big players in the market wants the older stuff, those units will have bidders from who knows where. Wonât surprise me at all if an outside investment group with little maritime experience takes a peek. For that matter, nothing would surprise me now.
Pure speculation here:
Once the fleet goes to auction I think that OSG or Crowley will bid on the big rigs like the Donna and Kim. Kirby, Reinauer, Moran, and maybe Vane Bros and Harley/Centerline will bid on the rest of the fleet. The older stuff like the Evening Tide and the other wire boats will go to the scrap yard or overseas.
Morty may be able to save a few boats to keep too, but heâs going to have to give some up to pay off his debts.
I posted this in the other thread.
I actually wasnât surprised by how âstate of the artâ the Donna J was. They went cheap and basic with everything. Not what I expected with something built only a few years ago.
Heard the safety nazis have control of the drones to make sure when you step outside all your PPE is properly donned. If not, 15 lashes and bread and water for 3 days.
Anything with intercon is not cheap and basic. Any double hulled barge in good condition is valuable to somebody. The key is how well the good stuff has been maintained. Poor maintaining of the vessels overall contributed rather handsomely to Mortyâs problems. . I suspect many quality marine inspectors/engineers phones are ringing off the hook.
The âIMMO - International Maritime Meme Organizationâ page on FB has been posting them. Funny stuff.
My ex-relief sent me the one, I went to the page and it was pretty good stuff. Everyone else is all quiet about it, Mortys going to sue me over a meme ?
Those are great
Question
Iâm hearing all kinds of things
Is it true if these men file suit for their unpaid wages they will be in a maritime database showing theyâve had a lawsuit and in turn will be blacklisted from the industry and will never work another ship again?
Anyone have access to this Tradewinds article?
Bouchard settles one lawsuit, but effort to sell barge continues
Bollinger Amelia Repairâs motion to sell a Bouchard barge will be heard next weekâŚ
Short answer: no
There is no Maritime Database in the sense youâre referring to. You can search any mariner on the NMC website and it will just tell you what credentials they hold.
If anything Iâd think these guys would be attractive to a potential employer for sticking it out and working without pay.
Donât have access to Tradewinds, doubt if that article would have much of interest at this point.
