Bombogenesis Across Great Lakes

Forecast currently calling for 971mb Low to cross the Straits of Mackinaw tomorrow and slide ESE; there are still a few Canadian boats running salt from Goderich, ONT to Lake Michigan ports. Erie is essentially ice covered but winds are forecast to blow 50-55 sustained. The east end of Ontario will get pummelled, too.

I am glad to be home for the winter but a drive to the beach tomorrow afternoon for a look at the ice piling up off Holland and maybe Saugatuck is on the schedule.

No kidding! I am too damn old for an ice party anymore.

Given Lake Ontario is “short” on the East/West axis, last nights forecast is telling concerning the power of this storm.
