Biden bans new offshore oil and gas drilling in most federal waters

An action which is more symbolic that anything else since much of the GoM is not part of this

How much oil is the U.S. producing today, as say opposed to2019?

What country produces in the world?

When did that country become the worldā€™s top oil producer?

Iā€™d say itā€™s just another action to leave behind a smoking ruin for Trump.

"My decision reflects what coastal communities, businesses, and beachgoers have known for a long time: that drilling off these coasts could cause irreversible damage to places we hold dear and is unnecessary to meet our nationā€™s energy needs. It is not worth the risks,ā€ Biden said.

ā€œAs the climate crisis continues to threaten communities across the country and we are transitioning to a clean energy economy, now is the time to protect these coasts for our children and grandchildren.ā€

The above is what Bidden said after signing. For him to do this now, with only 2 weeks left in office, shows how disingenuous he is. If he cared about any of the nonsense he spewed, he would have done this his first week in office. But what is worse imo, is his dummy followers applaud him for & pretend it means something other than bad sportsmanship from a failed president. Pitiful, itā€™s elder abuse, puppeting an obvious Alzheimers sufferer around like this.

Trump Energy Plan- as I understand it

Plan includes lifting Bidenā€™s pause on LNG export licenses ā€“

The US became the worlds top exporter of LNG in 2023

Trump will seek to expedite drilling permits on federal land ā€“

After adjusting for inflation, front-month U.S. crude futures prices averaged just $76 per barrel in 2024 down from $102 in 2022.

And the number of rigs drilling for oil fell to an average of 491 per week in 2024 from 574 in 2022, according to data from oilfield services company Baker Hughes.

But production is still rising at an average rate of more than 4% per year as the industry learns to squeeze more output from fewer rigs.

Trump to seek to boost sales of offshore oil drilling leases

Because of P46ā€™s Ukraine policy the USA and Canada are now Europeā€™s LNG source, not Russia. Meaning, North America is now eating Russiaā€™s lunch. If the war ended tomorrow that would not likely change, because the EU does not want to be Putinā€™s bitch.

Our Ukraine policy has tapped a new market for us, one that is mutually beneficial with our defense partners. It may be the single biggest energy coup in the last forty years.

So, now run that EU LNG revenue over the period of the next ten years. How much revenue is that likely to be?

Yeah, no president has ever tried to force through any policy/executive order/nominations/pardons in the weeks leading up to a new administration. Who could believe politicians would do such a thing!

How is giving pardons or signing executive orders, things that are clearly within the authority of a POTUS, considered pushing through? If Biden would have done this within his first 100 days in office like he did with dozens of other Executive Orders I would say he was sincere in his beliefs & words on offshore drilling in federal waters. If you think he did this now, in his last 2 weeks of office because he believes his own rhetoric & thinks THIS Executive Order will stand & stop new drilling in federal waters so be it. Some are deliberately more gullible than others and my common sense tells me otherwise. Believe as you wish.

He did: Biden suspends oil, gas leases on public lands for 60 days | PBS News

Updated:

Iā€™m sure itā€™ll be so hard to the Trump Admin to reverse the executive order like it was for Biden to reverse almost half of Trumps executive orders during his first 100 days.

Iā€™m not sure why you asked me. I donā€™t think that has any relevance to what I posted which Iā€™ll reiterate.

Biden is doing last minute deliberate damage every day to your nation by various presidential directives including pardons and sentence commutation for criminals whilst dishing out presidential medals to more actual criminals such as Hillary (who you will remember destroyed evidence under subpoena and was declared culpable by FBI director Comey who helpfully added he didnā€™t think any jury would convict her - unsurprising in a DC which votes ninety something percent Democrat).

Some of his stupid directives can be reversed but some are simply designed to stick in Trumpā€™s craw.

Iā€™m anticipating further devastation before and after inauguration which will partly be Bidenā€™s mindersā€™ pulling his strings, deep state operatives placing land mines to erupt later and other never-Trump forces taking more direct hostile actions.

Attacks from extra terrestrials too. Iā€™m getting more popcorn in.

Do you notice how the cult members always yell ā€˜TDSā€™ when their boy is called out?

But they canā€™t stop talking about some 80-year old, five-foot tall woman who hasnā€™t held political office for eight years. She is always in their minds like some kind of aā€¦of a fetish, I guess.

Oops! I see whatā€™s going on with them

But using ā€œWhataboutā€ is so much fun. I admit Iā€™m guilty. Lately Iā€™ve been in a flame war with people who say game wardens are useless, power-mad dictators, who when they give you a citation get to pocket the money and I reply with ā€œwhataboutā€ poachers and game hogs. Have a goodern.

I donā€™t think so. From the articles you referenced, one was about a 60 day pause & the other was for 60 million acres off of Alaska. This current screw over the US economy executive order was a permanent ban on 625 million acres. An area larger than Texas & Alaska combined or 6 times as large as the state of California. Biden & his handlers were very vocal about their wishes before his election & during his 1st 100 days in office. If he (& his caregivers) believed any of the crap he said about this executive order he would have locked out this massive amount of energy 4 years ago. It would have been a lot harder for a Republican President to overturn later if it was around for a 4, 8 or 12 years. IMO, their faux concerns about the environment is just for political pandering & undermining the US economy as usual. The same with keeping the needle out of the arms of the 9-11 masterminds & giving those rapists & child murderers lifetime memberships to Club Fed instead of the punishment they deserved. Itā€™s all about turning the knife in the stereotypical patriotic Americans that many Democrats hate. But thats the POTUSā€™s prerogative, cheer over those executive orders if you wish, nothing I can do about it.

Iā€™m not cheering about anything. You asked why he didnā€™t do anything in the beginning, I gave you some evidence he did. Whether or not you like that is up to you.

I never said nor implied he didnā€™t do anything in the beginning. I said he wasnā€™t sincere nor did he believe the b.s he spewed 2 days ago about the total ban in most federal waters. Now you posted 2 more links & they donā€™t show anything about a drilling ban on an area the size of 6 Californias either. You keep proving my point. He didnā€™t believe in the benefits of a 625 million acre drilling ban in 2021 & he doesnā€™t believe it now. Thatā€™s why he waited so long, because he knew it wouldnā€™t stick. Heā€™s disingenuous in his statement about this environmental issue & impact imo.

Some of my Trumpist friends are now calling Jan. 6 ā€œPatriots Dayā€
Is that the stereotypical ā€œpatriotā€ you are speaking of?
The banning of drilling that Biden did was never going to happen anyway as the governments of the states would never allow it. DeSantis allowing drilling on Floridaā€™s coast? No way and he has made that clear as have governors before him. What Biden did was symbolic and largely unnecessary. I know some folks in the oil business and they are shrugging their shoulders at this ban, it is a non event. They have bigger fish to fry in other parts of the world once the US fracking boom comes to an end as it plays out. Itā€™s just media hype to stir up clicks and money.

Itā€™s ok we have much bigger stuff to do - invade Greenland, anex Canada - change the name of the gulf of mexico to the gulf of america. Havenā€™t seen a plan yet on reducing the actual cost of food an housing - which I remember as kind of a big deal before the election.

we need these leases about as much as we need Keystone II - it is all just noise

In the case of Bidens DOJ accepting the plea deals of the 9-11 masterminds last month that spared them the death sentence, no. I was thinking more of the NYC first responders, Americans who cried in front of their TVā€™s in sept '01 & Afghan war veterns alive & dead. Sparing the lives of the masterminds of those terrorists attacks was something else imo. For the life of me I canā€™t see why any patriotic American would be proud of Biden for that. He just did that to screw a bunch of patriotic Americans over imo. We can send thousands of young Americans to their deaths in Afghanistan to catch the terrorists then we spare the lives of the brains behind the attacks? WHAT THE FUCK?? I see it as a slap in the face if the 2,800+ Americans who died in the Afghanistan War.
