Backround on a possible employer

IF it is Identity theft… Who the hell wakes up one day and thinks, “I’ll try to steal someone’s ID. What better group of people to target than tugboaters?..”

Unless he’s gonna identity theft to get himself a job on a boat I don’t think that would be the motive. But who knows. Guess we all have to track “mike” down and interrogate him.

Interesting, I’m fairly certain I spoke with this same individual about 4 or 5 days ago with a completely different story. I live in the Marco area and was given his number after he had contacted a friend of mine looking for a recreational assist tow captains locally. My friend told him he has a full time job running a tug and also doesn’t live close enough anyways, and that was the extent of their conversation.

My friend took down his name and number and forwarded it to me. I called and was answered with ‘Sea Tow Marco’. I spoke to him briefly and said that he had to fire a handful of his captains earlier in the week and that he was looking for people. I told him that I was also running a tug on a 28/14 rotation but that I am always looking for stuff in my time off. He basically just told me to call him back in three weeks when it was time to get off the boat.

I don’t know of this guy locally nor have I talked to anyone else who does either. I’m just confused because he was very friendly over the phone, knew some local geography, and had not pushed my friend or myself for any personal information. I still plan on calling him back for shits and giggles in a couple weeks and see what the deal is.

The number is a Pennsylvania area code and ends with 2920, and is also advertising on Craigslist in SWFL for captains as well.

That’s him. Kinda soft spoken, with a jersey brogue? He was really friendly, I give him that.

If you search the number there is one report of a “terror” call being made from it.

He told me the same thing about having to fire a bunch of captains.

What doesn’t jive is why Sea Tow Marco now claims to have never heard of him or his claimed vessel.

Let me know what you find in a few weeks. He has stopped answering me.

Hell, if I have been wrong I will issue a full apology. Hate to slander the guy but all the evidence is against him.

Yeah that doesn’t jive, and I don’t know why he’s having difficulty finding people when there are literally 6-pack/assist tow captains coming out of the woodwork in my area

The plot thickens…if someone lives down there they should meet up with this character and see this “boat” he has

Seriously someone should take this job, and report back to us what they uncover.

Ha! If you all chip in to pay my ransom plus travel I would go but I think my cover is pretty well blown.

I asked for info on him on facebook too and one guy that lives on Marco said he would take a look. I will relay anything he finds.

I was looking for a room to rent and a friend on Facebook named Michael Baxter messaged me that he had a room to rent. He said he owned Towboat US Marco Island And Tow Boat US St Pete. He also said he owns Buddy Davis Yachts in Egg Harbor in New Jersey. He was also saying he needed an admin assistant for those companies and that is the field I work in (admin for a marine company) and offered me better pay.

He “ran late” to meet me two nights ago and rescheduled for last night. Then he made an excuse he got into a car wreck. He called me this morning to come meet him at the house and never showed up. Mind you, the address he gave me did not exist and was an empty lot.

Walks like a duck…
