Pretty soon, fresh water will go down. Then the fruits and veggies.
Ho - boy, that’s a fine mess we’re in.
My bet is that a lot of the ships are small coasters with much smaller crews than that. The statement may not be right, but it doesn’t seem implausible.
The photos are recent screenshots from CCN.
It does sound high, but we all know that whatever the figure is, it’s large. And those stuck are just regular seafarers, working for a living. And now, facing the prospect of water rationing, uncertainty, and other unpleasant events.
TDS alive and well I see.
Of course, they are from CNN.
I am not going to argue as mine are only speculative figures w/o access to real data.
However having 3× 4 months contracts on chartered 1400+ teu vsls trading there with insanely tight schedules i recall that hugging the UAE shores to cut the time was a standard.
Encountered other coasters both dry and liquid cgo , where rather local flags or FOC with local crews.
Having said that
- this tiny boats are not worthy targets for spectacular damage results to scare the world wide public in this PR game.
2 hugging the shores, the use of radar for precise navigation makes shutting down of GNSS & AIS possible .
- Only certain flags or certain flag associations (Israel, USA. EU lapdogs) otherwise considered as invaders are in the crosshairs of ayatollahs systems which are destroyed on a daily basis .
Therefore I suspect the number of crews affected is artificially blown for good impression.
I would not belive the claims of Bangladeshi maritime personality to have better access to real data then organisations representing real maritime powers.
