I was using the capstan to pull out the 10" nylon double braid towing hawser and one of the threads of the cover got caught on a bolt and pulled out about 10 feet. The cover got all bunched up and Ive tried stretching it out a bit but the there is still a good amount of thread hanging outside the line. Should I just work it down into the line leaving a little hanging out every other tuck? Will it compromise the line to just cut it? Any advice for this?
I presuming it’s from the outer sheath? You could put a strain on it and let it pu itself back in as much as it can, then cut off anything that’s still sticking out.
