TWIC extension

Looks like DHS has entended their TWIC complience date - see <A href="http://www.tsa.gov/press/releases/2008/0502.shtm]http://www.tsa.gov/press/releases/2008/0502.shtm

At the current rate, April 2009 is still a stretch. The TSA is at fault by not setting a standard of who should be allowed to sign-up first…but mariners are threatened with invalid credentials.

Don’t know how true it is but heard that around port fourchon, they were aready turning people away at different facilties for not having our twic card.

“Don’t know how true it is but heard that around port fourchon, they were

twic card.”

Not true. I’ve been at a majority of the docks over the last 3 weeks visiting different vessels and I haven’t experienced anyone specifically asking for a TWIC yet, but they will let you use it NOW, which wasn’t the case two months ago…some guards didn’t accept it because they didn’t know what a “TWIC” was.

So that means that all of us who paid the money to try and comply will have 7 months shaved off of our card because of the extenstion. Guess we should’ve waited and gotten the extra time, shesh.

yep do the right thing, get all your duckies in a roll,be a good professional seaman by trying to stay ahead of the game.sad but true, not only your cards not getting used, think of all the pros and cons(excons) it benefits by keep extending the card, man don`t you just love the buri-crap!
