Video - Canadian Navy: Navigation training for junior officers

The dude at 00:13 thinks this will make him a star and he’s having an orgasm.

I saw that, the guy to the right, just over his left shoulder in the black jacket thinks otherwise.

EDIT: For context I believe the person recording the video was the captain.

I can’t think of a better place to learn navigation than the BC Inside Passage. Places as good, Ombugge, but not better. An absolute maze with wicked tidal gates, and water depths that go from 900 feet to solid granite in the space of a few yards.

Also, great ports of call, from Vancouver, to Victoria, to Ganges.

This is the first time I’ve seen a video of a military bridge team in action.

This is navigation training but it’s very unlike a senior ship pilot showing an apprentice pilot the ropes.

In the case of training a ship pilot the goal is to train a specific person to navigate various ships on a specific route.

The goal here is to train individual team members so that they can also navigate as part of other teams in other areas where individual team members may have no local knowledge.
