As in the submarine case, I hope this is not the β€œA” word.

Although NASSCO and the naval base are cheek by jowl do any of the stories say NASSCO was a contractor on this job? The stories I’ve read say the BHR was at a pier inside the base.

It looks like it was still a NASSCO job.

Thanks. So contract awarded in 2018 with expected finish May 2020. They must have just been putting the finishing touches on it?

Finished.

It may be a way to get NASSCO off the hook and pave the road for some retirement jobs. They may not be able to hang a swabbie but the mere mention of arson creates a great escape route for the yard.

If it was a sailor and it was arson, well let’s hope that sailor likes Kansas, because he will likely never leave that state for the rest of his life.

True.

Website Italian Shiplovers ask: " was it an accident or sabotage"?:

3 ongoing investigations, fate unknown.

Note the comment about not having dry dock(s) available to effect repairs.

Maybe one of KP graduate admirals will remember β€œβ€¦ that (19) years ago, the ship repair company then called Cascade General (now called Vigor Industrial) sold the largest floating dry dock in the Western Hemisphere for $26.5 million.”
