Sometimes the satellite photos suggest a cyclone over tropical or subtropical waters when no surface system is present. Here is an example of an upper level cyclone depicted in the satellite photos but without any surface low noted.
Here is the satellite photo indicating a cyconic system over the subtropical southwestern North Atlantic. The Surface analysis does not show any cyclone, however, the upper level 300mb chart does.
