TWIC while traveling
The TWIC sometimes helps at the airport. I believe they are required to accept it as Id. Hotels will not accept twic as id, but I recently got a “military” discount at a hotel.
TWIC is absolutely on the TSA list of approved ID cards. Tell them to look at their list…

I forced the issue at several airports years ago, but it seems to be widely understood as an agreed for airport access (general public) ID nowadays.
No, but it IS a government issued photo ID from their OWN agency and should be honored as such. Lets not mention that by gaining said TWIC, they certified you as a non terror threat to sensitive security areas…for them NOT to accept it as valid ID shows how worthless the program is.
Not arguing with ANY of that, don’t misunderstand. Based on that premise of my Military ID SHOULD have got me through any number of terminals for crew change. We ALL know how well THAT went.

Don’t know about discounts with a TWIC but with my MMD I always get 10% off at Lowes and a military rate at hotels. Seems the TWIC lacks proper wording for people to understand that are not in the know, so to speak.

An old style MMD or the new MMC?

Are you a member of the military when you accept this military rate at hotels?

In the beginning I had a couple TSOs question the card, but not lately. I use it or my CAC card.

New style works as well as the old used to. Haven’t had any problems with it.

Yes, the TWIC card is an acceptable form of ID for air travel.

Here is a quote from the TSA TWIC FAQ website.

Is TWIC an acceptable form of ID at an airport screening checkpoint?

I heard that Cananda is like… A whole nother country… Man. Maybe they require passports? You should try your passport, next time. You know. Just in case Cananda isn’t in the Uninted Stantes of Amernica and doesn’t care about ID that isn’t your passport. It’s bull shit, fur shur, but you might see if it works.

Welcome to gCaptain, great first post.

Worked for me going to TX once.

Whether or not it should is a different question though… After an experience my brother just had I have very little confidence in the competence of airport security. He made it from NC to FL then Bogota Colombia and finally Quito Ecuador with four .22 calibers rounds left over from a camping trip in a camera bag before they were finally found. So you could probably show some of them an old library card and get away with something.

Also worked for getting hotel rooms under 21 even when the law/rule states you must be, but I assume you don’t have that problem.

Have you looked around at the TSA checkpoints? Most them were probably sacking groceries the week before…either that or greeting at the front door of Walmarx.

I know it. I’m not sure why we trust them with the security of all our flights.
