Put it to you like this there is no such thing as an Ex-Marine.
In some recent company related communications I had an individual point out to me that, “Remember your reputation out here is 25% and your ability is the other 75%.” It was a narrow minded response by a narrow minded individual. In my short career in the Maritime industry I have learned that your reputation is everything and your ability is nothing. I may have a different perspective once I work for another company. Some people have both going for them so sometimes it is difficult to draw a line between the two.
If you conduct yourself with honor and integrity at all times, it will follow you. Apparently, this is not how mutt conducts himself. As such I don’t see how he can expect anything different of others. He put himself in question, this is his fault, not theirs.
I had an individual that was jealous of me, felt he should be where I was. He did everything he could to dirty my name. All he did was make himself look like a fool, because the perception he conveyed didn’t match what people already knew of me. I never had to defend myself because others did so for me or simply ignored him.
The same as those who work honorably for Chouest now do for their employer.
Then he should be even more ashamed of himself.
Damn, Cal!! You are hard core. I think I love you. LOL!
4 1/2 Years in the Army Capt. Lee. “Death before Dishonor”. If the information I am reading is accurate (always add the caveat), it’s a concept that mutt missed.
And here I thought the Marine Corps indoctrinated their soldiers better than the Army.
Cal,
Tell Lee you’re a girl or something to clear out this smell of pheromones.
Well Cal, I am going to have to retract my earlier statement. I was given an ultimatum by anchorman. He said it’s either me or him. And although I like your comments I have to defer to anchorman for the history factor alone.
There you go again. I was talking to Cal, never you. I did not give you an ultimatum. Hell, I wont even ask you a question. Don’t ask, don’t tell. People that walk with their toes pointed-in scare me.
That’s quite alright Capt. Lee. Both the wife and I failed Sharing 101 in Kindergarten, so she would not understand.
LOL
I’m nobody to tell you anything, but any kind of phobia needs “professional” help. Since you’re homophobic you might want to have that checked out…
you guys are hilarious. thanks. hope to see you onboard sometime. but leave mutt at the gangway.
He’s don’t homophobic…He loves Queers.
While the Mate with the loose lips (and now loose teeth) might be lucky to still be breathing, Mutt might be lucky to not get his documents/credentials revoked! Ya just can’t be putting your hands on people, even when verbaly provoked, and certainly not in the workplace. Sticks and stones may…yad yada yada.
My past observations with the Great Pumpkin is that they would both be sent packing.
Doesn’t Preperation H relieve the itchy and painful Homophobes?
I would not even consider hiring someone who assaulted fellow officer at work.
What about someone who’s BEEN assaulted at work?
That shows they have the ability to piss off their shipmates beyond the breaking point.
You represent the company that employs you. If you are screwed up enough to joke about someones mother passing away, to that person, while he was waiting to be discharged so he could go be with his family, I wouldnt want you representing my company. Under the same philosophy, I wouldnt want the officer who assaulted him working for me either.
Mutt in action the t-shirt is a dead giveaway.

Grandpa laid him out.
"There is some history here and the full story is not being told."
I figured as much after reading this one earlier, it didn’t sound logical regardless of what company it was.
why do some people feel the need to publicly mislead strangers? what’s the point really? OK, I can see the need to lie to your wife or boss or kids or parents, but total strangers??
For a fact there is a lot more to the story that is not being told, much predating this little episode, which actually shows how much ECO is willing to tolerate and work with people. I agree with you 100% Richard I really don’t know what Mutt was trying to accomplish here? Prevent someone from working at ECO because they won’t fly you out of Antarctica immediately? I mean seriously, all he succeeded in doing was air his own dirty laundry. I’m a “Pumpkin Guy” and they have never done anything but what they have promised me, and done their best to accomodate (anyone know how to spell accomo… awww forget it) my scheduling requirements. If I sound defensive it is because I am. ECO and specific individuals (some of whom post here) have done a tremendous amount for me and my family, for which I am very grateful. I have met Mutt on several occasions, but never worked with him as others who have commented. He always appeared to be a responsible, mature individual, building a very promising career at this company. His downward spiral actually comes as quite a shock to me. Whatever happened in Antarctica came at Mutt’s own hand, both literally and figuratively. My condolences go out to him and his family, and with sincere wishes that his impulsiveness can be be brought under control so that he can further the career that he has started. I mean dude, you hit the guy? Either he was full of it and being an a$$, or you had been pissing and moaning about deaths and illnesses in the family so much he got fed up, neither case was worth torpedoing your career over. Again, very sorry for your loss.
