They are hoping to find a practice and pattern of ignoring alarms and malfunctions I would guess.

Seaman’s Manslaughter is probably a significant reason that the FBI is investigating.
The ship has absolute civil liability for transitory unseaworthiness due to the loss of power and steering approaching the bridge. However, the ship and the corporation that owns it lack the deep pockets necessary to pay all the $$$ Billions in damage claims.
The FBI is also there to find evidence to support government criminal charges and civil claims against the beneficial owners, managers, charterers, crew, etc. the goal is to deter future criminal and negligent conduct by others, and find evidence against a deep pocket that can afford to pay a significant portion of the damages.

Any idea when NTSB or the FBI will release any information? NTSB had indicated early May … but with the FBI joining the team they may not allowed to.
I bet when the Dali hits the dock the Marshals service is going to seize it. It might end up being the first Jones Act compliant ULCV out there
