I have a Nokia N8 which I’m really happy with. It’s got two cameras, one of which is a 12 MP camera, the other is used for videophoning if you are in a country which supports it. I use an AT&T gophone plan with it and have a $20 unlimited internet plan (I don’t think they offer that any more but they have others). I bought it for hiking in remote areas, and it has a GPS receiver in it which doesn’t require a phone connection. Support for this phone is much better overseas than in the U.S. where I live. You can buy a new sim card in another country and simply slip it in.
The touchscreen screen is the same size as the IPhone and has the same type of touchscreen keyboard. I don’t use a screen protector because it’s got a gorilla glass screen and I haven’t had any scratches yet. I would say hardware-wise, it’s one of the best smartphones out there.
I can easily tether this phone to my laptop with a usb cord or with bluetooth to set up an internet connection using my existing AT&T plan.
The only drawback is there aren’t a lot of fancy apps for it, but the operating system has the essentials.
