Shell formally launches 2015 Arctic drilling bid
After the kulluk grounding happened I met someone who used to worked on the Aiviq. This individual said the captain allowed the vessel to operate beyond safe loading levels. Sea water washed across the back deck just below the vents. Apparently this person was so concerned about the safety of the vessel that a letter was sent to the office. It fell on deaf ears and the person was pushed out of the company before the incident occurred.
Now that captain is master of the ISLAND PERFORMER. Isn’t it simply amazing now the mafia protects its footsoldiers because to fire him would be tantamount to an admission that ECO was somehow at fault for losing the KULLUK and heaven forbid ECO could ever do anything negligent or be liable for any accident that happens! Bet the chief from the AIVIQ is there too as is the 3rd captain/tow master on who’s watch the original loss of the tow occurred. Why Shell hasn’t had ECO’s guts for garters over losing their rig like ECO did but then again it is a huge good ole boys club and somehow I believe no one really ever gets that mad at any other member of it? That would be bad form there Bubba…

and you people wonder why I loathe the Bayoo mafia like I do? Anyone with a brain in their head would hate them just as much!

It’s big business and the way it’s played. I’ve seen it all over from the northeast to the GOM to he west coast. The cost of doing business. Just fill out your Root Cause form and keep the show moving on. Everyone has bills and obligations and that will always play an important part in how the final outcome of an incident plays out. We all have bad days. Crews don’t always have a hero who will step up when the crap hits the fan. What’s done is done, learn from it and move on. Pray that a good man or woman finds his way to be in the right place at the right time next time.
