Pictures of Ships, Tugs, Off Shore Rigs, Barges, and those who work them

The Statsraad Lehmkuhl made a short visit to Lerwick, Shetland last night. No shore leave and no visitors due the Covid-19 restrictions:

She is now on her way back to Norway under sails in a Force 6 (Strong Breeze).
Under way she met the Christian Radich heading in the opposite direction, also under sail:.

They kept a comfortable distance between them, but who had the “right of way”?
PS> Both sailed close hauled, but on different tack. (Statsraaden on Port tack)

You better ask your mate competing in the final race of the laser yachts at the Olympics. But a spoiler, I think it’s the ship on the starboard tack.

OLUF MAERSK has been on the OC1 service between NZ and East Coast North America for several years now, and followed GOLDEN ASPIRANT out from Melbourne last Saturday. There seems to have been a curious attempt to rectify the black staining that afflicts the bows of ships on this service – reportedly as a result of Panama Canal/Great Bitter Lakes transits – with raised boot-topping, but maybe only at the bow for a few metres! The rest of the hull looks pretty scrubby still. Photo : Dale E. Crisp (c)

Found a couple of old pictures taken in some unusually barmy weather otherwise a camera would have been the last think in my hands. As regards PPE this was back when DP meant Displaced Person and HR was House of Representatives. According to Websters.
