So that’s what my reservist friends have been muttering about the last couple days.
I don’t know what’s new about that. 20 years I was in the CG reserve understood we could be-called up selectively . Most times it was a natural disaster and call up duty was augmenting a regular unit who’s personnel were deployed to the disaster. Happened to me couple times .
I was out by the time the Iraq wars came along, knew several that were called up for long periods mostly port security and Haz cargo jobs. Thing about the Coast Guard there is a every day job to do that’s not wartime related. Extra demands they need to dip into the reserve pool.
WW 2 probably 2/3 of the Coast Guard was Reserve.
