NMC "dificulties" Entities to help fight back?

Hi,

I retired 1 Dec 11 from the CG. The last 11 years I was the enlisted version of Captain. I’ve helped my father in law with social security and I’ve been auditied by the irs. While I understand the “pecking” order down here in the brownwater fleet, this assumption I’ve graduated from the 3rd grade and I married my sister attitude you get from them is…deplorable. The accuracy is a whole other issue, ie your information is pending at 11am and the mail shows up with a letter dated 2 days earlier saying “rejected”.

I just got the casework email address for my congressman. Do I write all of them or just one? Is there any other entity out there to help fight them?

Thanks!
Kevin

When writing, make sure you explain what you are writing about. What you just posted really doesn’t do it.

You are in the right place for help. Vent a little and take a pill. The NMC does not care if you are an ex-Coastie, it only makes it worse.

Yea. I’m not sure what the gripe is? At first I thought it was about the IRS, but I suppose it’s about the NMC.

That is the truth!

Was hoping for elaboration…then the poster can get the help needed.

Sorry, was u/w…

“THEY” denied my license. “THEY” don’t like a medicine. “THEY” tell you your application is “pending” by email, but the mail shows up on the same day as the email and your “DENIED” in a letter dated two days prior. You get no courtesy/respect on the phone, less by email. As to the irs/ss reference, most people have “horror” stories, I survived and was sucessful with these two notorious govt agencies. I have not been sucessful (yet) with the NMC.

anchorman and tilletso: I apologize if the post isn’t clear. The subject is the issue, the body includes a hint at my persistence (irs/ss sucess), what I have done, 11 years as an enlisted “captain”, and a bit on the frustration level from some of my dealings with them and a request to the communtiy should they know of an organization that helps and has “power” to help with the “issues(currently medical, soon tonnage/TOAR)” I am having with “them”. I also asked if I should write one or all of my elected reps? The brownwater reference/pecking order/3rd grade/marry sister/ is my demented sense of humor. I read it three times before I hit post and it made sense to me. Sorry.

Robert and BMCSRetired: Thanks! Little did I know. I found a retired CDR who can Gibbs head slap quite well. My ltr to my elected reps went from 3 pages to 1 apparently ““BMCM” the language” is not allowed when writing ones congress-critter. The pill is apparently the problem, venting serves no useful purpose towards the damn license, ex USCG makes it worse is an understatement. Thanks!

Have you considered telling them you are declaring jihad if they don’t get this situation unscrewed?
That usually gets someones attention.

Now that’s freaking funny!

Master Chief , Sounds like you maybe need to talk to your Dr. and NMC medical about an alternative medication if possible. I just went through the medical waiver process in Jan/Feb and got things resolved fairly quickly, mainly by giving them over and above the information requested. It helped that I have a pretty good relationship with my Primary Care Physician who will go out of her way to write up the lengthy explanations NMC seems to be looking for. Good Luck! Maybe now you realize that if you ever got a negative reaction in dealing with us “civilian” mariners, it is because for a lot of us, much of our interaction with the USCG is via the REC’s and NMC.

The reason people asked for more information is because your post is so general no one here can help you. Just complaining that you were rejected and that they wouldn’t tell you that via email doesn’t help us help you any. If you say on here what medication they don’t like and their exact wording in the rejection letter you may actually get a useful response. For example, someone may have been on the same medicine for the same condition and found an nmc acceptable medication that also works to treat that condition, or they can tell you how they convinced the nmc to let them work despite the medication.

In short, don’t ask for help by ranting about the nmc. Ask for help by explaining your problem in detail.

Sometimes the venting is better for your than declaring ‘Jihad’ as someone so eloquently put earlier. As usual, the crew here from Anchorman on down was very acommodating.

I am attempting to help him directly. There is more than meets the eye here. When we finish getting his problem fixed I will post something concrete about it. His main problem is getting NMC to buy off on some USCG experience. That was my problem initially when upgrading my 1600 ton license. With some help from the crew here I was able to do it and I hope to help the Master Chief.
