Why can every other major seafaring nation produce the passport style books but the USCG can’t? LOL. What a joke.
The FOC documents I have are all multi page printed books for the seaman rating and a 8.5" x 11" certificate for the license. Maybe the NMC can buy the same machines that the Liberian or Marshall Islands registry use and issue real seaman’s books like the rest of the world uses.

Well heck, I can run down to Office Depot and print up one like Vanuatu’s (or like they were when I had one… it’s been a little while for me and they may be more than heavy paper and cardstock stapled into a book now).

I didn’t think I’ve ever seen a Vanuatu seaman’s book, especially not a modern one, but my Liberian and Marshall Islands ones are higher quality than the best the MMC ever was.
Plus they’re a true seaman’s book so every time you sign off the Master officially signs and stamps your sea service for that hitch in the book.
Liberian registry is owned and based in the US so maybe it’s even printed right here in the USA…… the NMC should’ve ask to borrow a spare printer lol
The USCG needs to bring back seamen’s books. We are the only mariners that don’t have them. This would be a great advantage to both the USCG and US mariners and help eliminate phoney seatime and incorrect wording on company letters.
The Seamans books could have check boxes for: 12 hour days, used radar, participated in drills, stood watch, didn’t fail or refuse drug tests, nature of voyage, etc.
Marshall Islands, too IIRC. Reston, VA sticks in my head, for some reason.

Panama is actually managed out of Panama. They also handle Belize, Honduras, St Vincent and The Grenadines, Malta, and others.

Yep, just checked mine and its not showing anything about the app. Only the info for if you have questions concerning this credential etc…
Yup… can’t view anything. Did the live chat… my app is lost/rotting away waiting on safety/suitability since June 21st. Several ship mates submitted weeks after me and either being evaluated or had their renewals issued already. I haven’t received any updates at all via email as I did in the past either. Brought this to there attention and was told I’ll get an email on status changes, which I have yet to receive through this entire application so far. Keep getting the run around on 90 days for processing.
