New launch: IMO based risk estimator (TheNavalArch)

image
We are glad to launch a new product - a spreadsheet for performing IMO based risk estimation for seakeeping

This application provides an estimate of the risk of sailing into a dangerous situation in adverse weather and sea conditions allowing the ship’s master to make informed decisions on ship handling.
The application uses vessel parameters like length, displacement, Inertia, speed along with existing sea conditions like wavelength, significant wave height and angle of encounter to estimate if the ship is sailing in a dangerous zone as defined by the IMO criteria.

The following risk criteria are checked:
a) Risk of surf-riding in following or quartering seas
b) Risk of successive high-wave attack
c) Risk of synchronous rolling and parametric rolling motions
