Maersk thanks analysts for aid in 09 hijacking

Enjoy the Wash Post article today http://wapo.st/nv7eR5 where Maersk gave the Office of Naval Intelligence a model of the Alabama for their role in the hijacking. I was taken by a couple things in the article. First, that the involved, other than Capt. Rupp &Steve Green had to remain publicly anonymous. Second, things were speeded up by the ability of Green and Maersk’s Steve Carmel “spoke the jargon of the commercial shipping business- a timesaver” and they had both graduated from Kings Point. The Navy Seals did the onsite work, but obviously, more happened behind the scenes as we all know. Good job, ONI.

Another tidbit, Tom Hanks is starring in the movie made from Capt. Phillips’ book, “A Captain’s Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALS, and Dangerous Days at Sea.”
