Just getting started in the industry ? should I go for it

A few years ago I was working an offshore construction claim. The skipper on the ROV boat that I spent most of the time on was clueless on how to use his DP when alongside the lay vessel to transfer men and material. Man, he just kept dicking with the joystick. I as also spending time on a standard supply boat (same job-offshore for 28 days on this one-shifted from vessel to vessel). No DP. The skipper on that one could live boat his vessel far better than the ROV boat. Of course, we know who made more money.

I have the 100Ton NC and a twic ,next i need to do the STCW I am assuming and i can start looking

Is there anything else I should be looking at

What exactly am i searching for ? Crew Boats .DP Boats .

what qualifications are needed for Pilot Boat drivers and do they pay well ?

100 ton Master has not STCW rating.

Get the training and experience at a company while you are making your mind up. You aren’t even 50 yet. Damn you could be working for another 20 years. Especially with all this share the wealth we are getting ready to experience.

Don’t forget your MMD.
